Router Redundancy

#1

Hello Everyone,
It says that Crossbar.io has multi-node and multi-process architecture. And under the “Scale out on Multi-Node” section found at http://crossbar.io/docs/Architecture/ it says “Crossbar.io allows router processes to link to other routers, including routers running on different hosts. This allows routing to be scaled-out for performance, scalability and fault-tolerance to multiple nodes in a cluster or federated system.”

How do we do this? How do you link routers in crossbar? How does a router know when it is linked to another router?

Can linked routers be used then for redundancy? I’m trying to figure out if I can have a second router (with identical features) take over for a failed router.

Any ideas or suggestions?

Thanks,
Jess

Hi Jess,

yes, this stuff is simply not yet there. It’s marked in the “scale up …” section as “planned”. In fact it’s not a lot different to “scale out …” other than the transport: Unix domain socket or loopback TCP. The router to router protocol needed in both cases will use WAMP extension messages for that.

Cheers,

Tobias
