Link to android.jar is wrong

#1

Hello,
I wanted to try out your android library for websockets, but the link
to the jar is broken.
On the page http://autobahn.ws/developers/autobahnandroid/installation
is a link to this url: http://autobahn.ws/public/autobahn.min.js

Please correct the link, so I can download the jar to test it out. Or
is there another place to download the jar?

Thank you,
Christian

Hello,

that looks like a mistake made by Tavendo. I've had success by
downloading the code from github, and copying the directory
src/de/tavendo/autobahn into my project. I made this because using the
jar directly caused problems related to a duplicate manifest (maybe
that's already fixed).

Good luck with your tests.

Hi,

yeah, was broken .. mainly because I was lacking automated JAR creation/publishing. Just now added some Ant thingy for that.

Could you checkout the JAR from

http://autobahn.ws/public/android/

?

I just retested the code against the examples in AutobahnPython (echo, simple RPC and PubSub).

@Daniel: the dup Manifest .. there is only 1 Manifest in the JAR (now),
and this is how I understand it should be .. not? Could you test the JAR?

Is this based on exactly the same code as the one on GitHub?

Hello Tobias,
with the given url I could download the jar and it worked with
android.

But I hoped the library would work with plain java and not with
special android classes, because I develop my games so that they work
on android and on desktop and so I need libraries, that are not
plattform specific.

Do you plan to deliver also a pure java client library for websockets?

Thank you,
Christian

No. I don't care about Java other than on Android, sorry.

AutobahnAndroid is designed/optimized specially for Android .. you need
certain stuff for that .. a "generic" Java lib won't cut it.

I'd recommend you look at Jetty for "general" Java WS. It is very mature, and sophisticated. It's probably not exactly light weight. And
it isn't specifically designed/optimized for Android and Android UI apps.
