Autobahn.ws Beta released

#1

We’ve just
released a first Beta of Autobahn.ws.

Autobahn.ws
is a message broker for PubSub, based on AutobahnJS, AutobahnPython & WAMP.

It

  • enables web applications (and

anything else that does HTTP PUSH) to publish to subscribed WebSocket
    clients via a REST API
  • enables WebSocket clients to

    do PubSub.

The
application is delivered as a virtual appliance image, which works on both
VirtualBox and VMWare - so getting it up and running is really just a few
clicks. Administration is via the browser, so again it’s easy to get started
and experiment a bit.

You can
download the beta from

Amazon S3

The Beta is
without any functional restrictions, no
limits on connections etc., so that you can fully test Autobahn.ws (in its present, pre-release state). We are very
interested in any suggestions, questions, feature requests and bug reports that you come up with while
using the Beta. We’re also looking forward to hearing of what you use
Autobahn.ws for.

Autobahn.ws
will be released as a commercial product - but we will offer a free version
with some functional limitations. (And, of course, a commercial release will
not affect the open source libraries provided by the Autobahn project.)

So have fun
trying out the Beta, let us know what
you think of it - and please pass on the download link to others who may be
interested!

(PS:

For now you
have to get by with the inline documentation in the application. More extensive
documentation and tutorials will start going up on the Autbahn.ws website
sometime next week.

When
importing the virtual appliance image into VMWare, you need to retry import
with relaxed OVF specification conformance after VMWare gives a warning.)

I just tried to download the appliance, but I’m getting a PermanentRedirect message from Amazon.

I just tried to download the appliance, but I'm getting a
PermanentRedirect message from Amazon.

I should have put the web page

http://autobahn.ws/appliance/betatrial

into the mail, not The direct download link.

we released a new beta (and removed the old):

Ok, I’ve found the problem. I had the HTTPS Everywhere addon/extension enabled, in both browsers. I apologize for the inconvenience.
